The role:
Lead the Prism team as a people manager. Prism is SoFi’s internal AI platform for knowledge work. Prism connects employees with the AI models, business context, and tools they need to solve important problems more effectively. It also creates a continuous learning loop by capturing what works—and what doesn’t—so our workflows improve over time and employees can deliver better results faster.
As the Engineering Manager (M3) for Prism, you will build and scale this critical internal tool, managing a team of software engineers while collaborating cross-functionally to define and execute the AI-platform roadmap. You will solve complex, function-specific problems and guide your team through rapid iteration in a highly ambiguous, greenfield environment.
What you’ll do:
• Build and scale Prism: Lead the engineering team responsible for developing SoFi's internal AI productivity platform.
• Manage and develop talent: Manage incoming IC3 engineers, providing coaching, performance management, and career development. Collaborate with talent acquisition to help hire and onboard advanced engineers (IC4/IC5) to the team.
• Execute the technical roadmap: Help define and deliver on the internal AI-platform roadmap, adapting to shifting priorities while ensuring short-term operational targets are met.
• Build foundational AI infrastructure: Oversee the development of tools that enable SoFi engineers to work more productively, including custom harness wrappers, auto-routing capabilities, and programmatic evaluations.
• Partner with stakeholders: Work directly with internal developer customers and cross-functional engineering teams to distill complex requirements, obtain buy-in, and drive platform adoption.
What you’ll need:
• Education & Minimum Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree + 4+ Years of Experience OR Master’s Degree + 3+ Years of Experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Proven experience with AI-powered developer-tooling and related technical architectures.
• Solid people-management experience in a fast-moving, high-velocity engineering environment.
• Exceptional experience building platforms for, or managing, internal developer customers
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, drive rapid iteration, and successfully execute greenfield engineering projects.
Nice to have:
• Experience in fintech or within another highly regulated industry environment.
• Deep understanding of LLM integration, context retrieval architectures (RAG), and AI evaluation frameworks.
