Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Enterprise Test Capabilities (ETC) develops, operates, and scales the shared physical test infrastructure, technical expertise, and execution systems required to validate Anduril's products across the company. The team provides specialized testing that is capital-intensive, technically complex, safety-critical, or broadly reusable across multiple programs, spanning environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock, HALT, TVAC), battery testing (cell/module/pack characterization, abuse testing, BMS validation), propulsion testing (engine test cells, thrust/torque measurement, fuel/feed systems), aerodynamic testing (wind tunnel operations, flow visualization, force/moment measurement), and structural testing. We partner with product test teams from early development through qualification and sustainment to identify technical risk, select appropriate test methods, execute testing safely, and generate trusted engineering evidence. The test operations team within ETC owns the lab facilities, equipment fleet, calibration program, and operational support team that keeps this diverse test enterprise running.
Within ETC is the Internal Capabilities Development (ICD) team, which develops the equipment and test capabilities used by ETC and the broader product teams (Ground Systems, Maritime, Space, Air Dominance & Strike, and Drones). Over the last 3 years, ICD has built large-scale test equipment that has consistently beaten competitive build-vs-buy requests and timelines... i.e. the "tiger team" that enables Test & Evaluation (T&E;) to move at a high pace. Our ground-up builds include Walk-In Thermal Chambers, shipping-container-sized static-fire test stands, Salt Fog chambers, Server Electrical & Heat Load Simulators, Modular Test Chambers, Sand & Dust chambers, and other environmental test equipment built to the MIL-STD-810H standard.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the ICD team in Costa Mesa, CA. This is a hands-on, full-stack role building the DataSuite platform from existing foundations into robust, production-grade internal tooling. You will own front-end architecture and UX for browser-based lab dashboards, build back-end services for redundant test data storage and database querying, and establish the CI/CD and automation that lets our small internal dev team scale.
You will work directly with the ICD team to shape technical architecture, harden existing applications, and deliver new capabilities — including real-time project and chamber status views, automated software deployment/config management across our fleet of lab computers, and in-browser data viewing, analysis, and reporting.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Design and build full-stack internal web applications (front-end architecture, UX/UI, and back-end services) for real-time lab status, project management, and test data access
• Build and harden data pipelines for redundant test data storage, metadata tagging, and database querying (PostgreSQL, on-prem NAS, Box), enforcing data quality and traceability
• Develop in-browser data viewing, analysis, and templated reporting tools that let engineers view and share test data without leaving the browser
• Build automated software deployment and configuration management across 80+ shared laptops and chamber PCs to keep the fleet current as the team scales
• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (Docker, GitHub, Jenkins) that the internal dev team can own after handoff
• Advise on technical architecture and partner with the ICD team to translate lab needs into working, reliable software; integrate with Anduril systems (Okta, JIRA, Box) on the internal network
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, with strong front-end architecture and intuitive UX/UI
• Deep proficiency in the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem (React, Next.js, Node.js) and modern component/state management patterns
• Experience designing back-end services and APIs (REST, GraphQL) with relational databases (PostgreSQL/Prisma or equivalent)
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD, and deployment automation (Docker, GitHub Actions/Jenkins, or equivalent)
• Track record of taking applications from concept to production, including build-vs-buy evaluations and delivering under tight timelines
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-mix R&D; environment
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience building internal tools, admin platforms, or dashboards for technical/operational users
• Experience developing at scale for AWS cloud development & data management (S3, SQS, Lambda, RDS)
• Familiarity with bare-metal (on-prem/hybrid) data storage
• Experience integrating AI/LLM tooling (RAG, OpenAI, LangChain, embeddings) for search or analysis features
• Experience with SSO/identity platforms (Okta) and work-tracking APIs (JIRA)
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading small teams/contractors to accelerate delivery
