Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee planning, coordination, and execution of operations for a shipbuilding sector programme. The role is client-facing and involves working alongside a leading professional-services advisory team, shipyard representatives, and industry stakeholders to drive delivery against programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day operations across the shipbuilding programme, ensuring alignment with schedules, quality standards, and delivery milestones. • Coordinate across shipyards, vendors, engineering teams, and supply-chain functions to ensure smooth execution of programme activities. • Develop and manage operational plans, budgets, resource allocation, and progress tracking. • Monitor production timelines, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective action plans. • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and procurement protocols across operations. • Liaise with stakeholders on operational status, risks, and mitigation measures. • Oversee documentation, reporting, and performance metrics for the programme. • Manage and supervise operational teams and vendor personnel to maintain delivery standards. • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage. • 8–12 years of experience in operations management, ideally in shipbuilding, heavy engineering, marine, ports, or large-scale manufacturing sectors. • Strong knowledge of production planning, project execution, and operational governance. • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and vendor ecosystems. • Working knowledge of procurement, quality, and compliance requirements. • Proficiency in project management and operations tracking tools.
