Background of The Hans Foundation
The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that works towards creating an equitable society to enhance quality of life for all through the empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the Health and Wellbeing of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our Two-Fold Strategy involves identifying and working within Aspirational Districts and high poverty index in the North, North-East and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities, through urban programs.
Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 35 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organisations in India funded through THF USA and RIST. Project: Early Childhood Development & Neurorehabilitation Centre
(A novel multidisciplinary initiative with collaboration of The Hans Foundation & Centre of Excellence and Advanced Research for Childhood Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Child Neurology Division, Department of Paediatrics, AIIMS, Bathinda) The early the better” believing in this approach, The Hans Foundation has been supporting a number of projects to facilitate the early years of development. It provides supportive services to children and adult with disabilities who more often lack access to the comprehensive and intensified services in those magical years of development and also needed across the lifespan. This approach dramatically improves individual’s chances to reach their full potential and functioning, have better quality of life and take up their right place in the society as adults. The Hans Foundation is creating more such facilities and services in the country to reach the last mile of targeted community while aiming to achieve the goal “People with disability are enjoying a meaningful life in the inclusive society with high humanistic values”. Due to the lack of mainstream supportive services, accessible spaces, and positive attitudes, persons with disabilities face manifold challenges and are often forced to live within restricted social and physical environments. On average, persons with disabilities (PwDs) are more likely to experience adverse socioeconomic outcomes than persons without disabilities. Children are most vulnerable during the first few days after birth. Early childhood spans several distinct phases of a child's life, from conception to eight years of age, and of these, the first thousand days are considered the critical period for brain growth. Currently, an estimated 45% of young children in India are at risk of poor development. The project will establish an early intervention and neuro-rehabilitation facility – a novel multidisciplinary initiative undertaken in collaboration with The Hans Foundation and the Centre of Excellence and Advanced Research for Childhood Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Child Neurology Division, Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS, Bathinda.Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Pediatric EEG Technician to join our multidisciplinary team at the Early Childhood Development & Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre. In this role, you will perform routine, sleep-deprived, and extended video-EEG monitoring on pediatric patients ranging from neonates to early school-aged children. You will work closely with pediatric neurologists, developmental pediatricians, and rehabilitation therapists to provide high-quality diagnostic data that guides therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

1. Patient Preparation & Child-Centric Care

• Calm and prepare young children and anxious parents by explaining the procedure using age-appropriate, non-threatening language or play-therapy techniques.
• Measure and accurately place electrodes on the child’s scalp using the international 10-20 system, adapting quickly to smaller head sizes and sensitive skin.
• Employ behavior management techniques to keep pediatric patients still, cooperative, and comfortable during electrode application and testing.

2. EEG Testing & Monitoring

• Conduct routine, sleep, and prolonged video-EEG studies according to established clinical protocols for early childhood neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Implement activating procedures such as photic stimulation or hyperventilation safely, adapting them to the child’s age and developmental capabilities.
• Monitor video feeds continuously to document and correlate clinical behaviors, movements, or seizures with the electrical activity of the brain.
• Identify and eliminate artifacts (such as muscle movements, crying, or pacifier sucking) to ensure clean, interpretable diagnostic traces.

3. Rehabilitation & Neurodevelopmental Collaboration

• Identify critical EEG abnormalities (e.g., epileptiform activity or severe slowing) and immediately notify the reading pediatric neurologist.
• Coordinate scheduling with speech, occupational, and physical therapists to ensure EEG tests do not conflict with the child's rehabilitation or intensive therapy windows.
• Maintain detailed documentation of the child's developmental baseline, clinical history, and behavioral responses during the test.
4. Equipment Maintenance & Safety

• Sanitise, clean, and maintain EEG electrodes and machines according to strict infection control and pediatric safety standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report technical issues promptly to maintain operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Neuro-Electrophysiology, Neurophysiology Technology, or a closely related field.
• Certification: Certification from a recognized board or council (e.g., ABRET or local country equivalent) is highly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating EEG equipment, with dedicated experience or specialized training in pediatric or neonatal EEG monitoring preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in recognizing pediatric EEG patterns, sleep architecture, and distinguishing normal developmental variants from abnormal pathology.
Core Competencies (Soft Skills)

• Extreme Patience & Empathy: Ability to remain calm and gentle with highly active, non-verbal, neurodivergent, or distressed children (e.g., children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, or developmental delays).
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to reassure worried parents, explain medical procedures clearly, and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary clinical team.
• Adaptability: Ability to think on your feet and modify electrode application or testing environments to suit a child’s sensory sensitivities.
Academic Degrees & Diplomas
• Diploma / Certification in Neuro-Electrophysiology (1 to 2 Years) or
• Associate Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technology (2 Years) or
• Bachelor’s Degree in Neurophysiology Technology / Clinical Physiology (3 to 4 Years):

Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language, Certifications etc.)• 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in the development sector
• Candidates with experience in high functioning consulting environment and project management in health and disability experience will be given preference.
• Strong written and verbal communication and capability to relate and interact with multicultural teams.
• Giving close attention to details and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive or confidential information.
• Ability to lead and drive the project with a vision to achieve transformational change
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
• Have an empathetic & compassionate attitude. Sensitive towards the needs of children
• Ability to analyse complex problems, craft possible solutions and recommendations
