The person must have strong switchgear/product engineering knowledge and be capable of making engineering decisions around product architecture, design standardization, configurability, manufacturability and reuse. The Lead Engineer will work closely with the customer’s engineering team and will lead a small team of senior/junior engineers responsible for the detailed execution.Key Responsibilities

1. Switchgear Product Engineering

• Understand switchgear product architecture, components, assemblies and manufacturing requirements.
• Review existing switchgear products and identify engineering gaps, inconsistencies and opportunities for standardization.
• Provide engineering judgment on part design, interfaces, mounting arrangements and assembly structures.
• Review whether drawings contain sufficient information for manufacturing by a qualified supplier.
• Support resolution of complex engineering and design issues.
2. CAD & Drawing Engineering

• Lead the technical review of Autodesk Inventor CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Establish and enforce consistent CAD modeling practices.
• Review dimensions, GD&T;, materials, finishes, tolerances and manufacturing definitions.
• Identify incorrect, incomplete or duplicate engineering data.
• Define rules for modeling, drafting and engineering documentation.
• Guide the execution team on complex CAD and drawing issues.
3. Product Architecture & Modularization

• Develop hierarchical product structures covering:
• Product → Assembly → Subassembly → Part
• Identify common and variant-specific components.
• Develop reusable product building blocks for different switchgear configurations.
• Rationalize existing assemblies to reduce duplication.
• Define engineering structures that can support future product configurator requirements.
• Review component interfaces and compatibility across product variants.
4. Engineering Standardization

• Develop and implement common engineering standards for:• CAD modeling
• Drawing creation
• GD&T;
• Dimensioning
• Material specification
• Surface finish
• Naming and numbering
• Revision control
• Standard components
• Fasteners

• Ensure the standards are practical and can be adopted by the customer’s engineering organization.
5. BOM & Engineering Data

• Review and restructure Engineering BOMs.
• Establish correct relationships between parts, drawings, assemblies and product structures.
• Identify duplicate, obsolete or incorrectly defined components.
• Standardize engineering part numbers and naming conventions.
• Ensure engineering data is complete and consistent across the product.

• Ensure engineering data is cleansed and structured before migration.
• Review:• Part and document metadata
• Revision/version information
• CAD relationships
• BOM structures
• Naming and numbering
• Required attributes
• Product hierarchy

• Ensure the engineering dataset is suitable for controlled PLM migration.
